|
|
Hi,
First of all: I have used Gentoo in my laptop for a while now without any (significant) problems, thanks to this forum !!! I love this distro !!
Now, when I do "emerge -Du world", I am adviced to upgrade (I assume so, what is rc3?) alsa-driver:
Code: | [ebuild U ] media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.10 [1.0.10_rc3] |
However, I have compiled alsa in the kernel, and since I've had no problems with the sound, I wouldn't like to change the driver.
- In general, should I upgrade alsa-driver (by compiling it as a kernel module and then emerging it) for some reason??
- If not, should "=media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.10" in /etc/portage/package.keywords prevent emerge from upgrading alsa?? This has not been effective so far.
(This is not an actual problem, I just would like to learn the way gentoo works...)
Regards, Kaarlo

If you've ALSA compiled in kernel you shouldn't have alsa-driver. So (if you're sure of this) you should unmerge it, not update it. _________________ Adopt an unanswered post

Ok, alsa-driver unmerged. I've recompiled the kernel after the unmerge and everything seems to work.
Thanx! |
