I'm having a problem with kmail's address book. When I write a new e-mail and press select for recipient I get a list of addresses as you would expect and it works correctly. However, when I go to the kaddressbook option in kmail I get a blank list. How do I get the working list to appear in my addressbook so I can edit them?
What I don't understand is how come kmail is using 2 different address books? Could updating KDE to 3.5 have caused it?

Are you sure the addressbook view doesn't have a category filter applied or something that's keeping your entries from being displayed?

Not as far as I'm aware, I certainly haven't tried to filter anything!

If you open kaddressbook, looking down to the lower left section, do you have an addressbook resource specified?

Assuming you are using files rather than a network resource, if you then look at the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc

do you have multiple files there and are they the same?

Many thanks, that solved it!
For those with a similar problem when upgrading to KDE3.5 here's what I did.
My address book from KDE3.4 at
~/.kde3.4/share/apps/kabc
needed copying to KDE3.5 at
~/.kde3.5/share/apps/kabc

The only problem is I've still got 2 separate lists, file address book and resource-name in kaddressbook but only one comes up when I use the address option in kmail.
I want a single address book that comes up with both options, what is the correct default method?
