[solved] apache2 mod_redirect only works with https

Hello all

I have a big problem with mod_redirect using .htaccess

I have a server that needs https for a few dirs, so I have been playing with mod_redirect and .htaccess.

The thing is, if I redirect from https to http, it works. But not the other way around!

I have tested with a simple redirect to http://my.server/%{SERVER_PORT} with no condition (always redirects) and again, it only works using https

Is there any detail about the config I am missing? I have set option +FollowSymlinks global, and on a per dir basis in case the directory statement in httpd.conf isabled it.

The other funny thing is that I got this to work in the cgi-bin directory, everywhere else, it just ignores the redirect when using http (no logging)

I do not have access to the server right now, but later in the day I can post information as required

Well, this is what I get for inheriting a system built by someone else!

The apache server was compiled with useflag vhosts, that means I was editting in the wrong place! I should be editting the default vhost and not the root directory statement!
