PostPosted: Sun Jan 08, 2006 7:44 pm    Post subject: [solved] 3D accel. not working - ATI Radeon (AMD64 laptop) Reply with quote

I have an Acer Aspire 5022 laptop - an AMD64 beast with (saddly) an ATI Radeon Mobility X600 (64MB) graphic card.

It's all fine and dandy, but I just cannot get 3D acceleration to work anymore!! (It used to work a few days ago).

As far as I could find out the problem is that, althougth (the kernel and) X claim that I have direct rendering, GLX itself thinks differently.

Any help would be welcome!!! I'm growing desperate here!!!

My current setup:
kernel: Gentoo-2.6.14-r5
X: Xorg-x11-6.8.2-r6
drivers: ati-drivers-8.20.8

Solved the problem with great help from jor on #ati

The problem was that in my /etc/profile I had:
Code:

export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH="/usr/X11R6/lib32/modules/dri"

because a HOWTO suggested that line in order to get some 32-bit games etc. working with openGL

Changing that line to:
Code:

export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH="/usr/X11R6/lib32/modules/dri:/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri"

solved my problem
