Ok here's my problem; which seems to be rather new as I haven't had it happen before. Anyways when I launch a 3D opengl game on my 1280x800 resolution desktop the gl game (quake3, ut2004, etc) gets shrunk to 800x600 (which makes sense) but then that window becomes garbled as if it doesn't have the right sync / refresh rate. I have a compaq r3190 laptop, on the Geforce 4 GO graphics, with nvidia 8174-r1. I'm 99% sure it's something with my xorg configuration, because my old modline stopped working so I had to google around for some more. I managed to dig up some common WXGA modlines (from Mandrake). Those are located in a Section "Modes" so I just tell xorg to browse for something it likes.
I can't generate a new modline because I don't know ANYTHING about my laptops LCD only the resolution.
Any help would be loved,

Use gtf to generate a modeline. It's included with X. _________________ Jingle Jangle Jewellery |

I'm not sure of my monitors refresh rate though. _________________ www.garberdesign.com

Ok I generated a modline with a known 'good' freshrate of 75Hz, but not with that modline the screen just goes into the garbled mess as soon as x starts.
Code: |
Modeline "1280x800@70" 101.92 1280 1312 1696 1728 800 816 825 841
