|
|
i'm having a hard time getting an a-link wl54pc cardbus wlan card to work on my laptop. its supposed to have rt2500 chipset so i emerged the
rt2500 driver but it seems to do nothing. after loading it, ifconfig ra0 says 'no such device', and iwconfig shows only lo and eth0 with 'no wireless extensions'.
the laptop is a compaq presario m2000.
at first i didnt even see the card in lspci, but then figured the "pci=assign_busses" kernel parameter, and now i see this:
Code: |
...
02:09.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCIxx21/x515 Cardbus Controller
03:00.0 Network controller: RaLink Unknown device 0302
|
the card came with a driver cd with linux drivers 'STA-1.4.6.2' which seem to be similar to the rt2500 package from portage
(creating a module called rt2500.ko), but the 2.6.x version doesen't compile
Code: |
...
/usr/src/STA-1.4.6.2/Module/rtmp_main.c: In function `RT2500_probe':
/usr/src/STA-1.4.6.2/Module/rtmp_main.c:121: error: structure has no member named `slot_name'
...
|
i have yenta_socket compiled into the kernel, and tried to install everything related to wlan and pcmcia.
i tried the rt2x00 drivers also, with the same results. (that depended on emerging ieee80211, can this conflict with rt2500?)
RaConfig2500 says 'device driver not found'
feeling kind of helpless, have you got any ideas what do try and where to go from here?
kernel is gentoo-2.6.15, arch ~x86.

okay. solved. a-link sends the wrong linux drivers. the chipset is rt2600 (changed at some point for this card), and ralink has it on their website (called rt61). and it compiled _________________ // ~x86 athlon-xp 2.6.11-morph1 udev nptl gcc3.4 |

rt61 from portage does not seem to work with my Compaq Armada E500.
Hm. It may be in my kernel configuration.
Can someone please give me the options that I need to enable in menuconfig..? URL or pasted text, both are okay. =) _________________ ..: Zucca :..
