|
|
Hello.
I trying to config my wireless PCI SMC2803W card.
Tried iwconfig, but it only says:
lo no wireless exyensions.
gre0 no wireless extensions.
Under the istallation gentoo found my first TP network card as eth0 and wireless card as eth1.
It worked fine with net-setup eth1! But not when i am booting from harddisk
I also tried using wpa-supplicant, but when i tried emerging it it said no ebuilds.
# emerge net-WIRELESS /wpa-supplicant
I have also activated IWCONFIG in /etc/conf.d/net
# modules = ( "iwconfig" )
Can anyone help? |

try to execute
ifconfig eth1 up
I needed this with a USB WLAN stick once. Before I did not mark the interface as UP no wireless extensions were found. |

just type iwconfig if it find any wireless connections it will list then with their current parameters.
then using that found interface name you can try a ifconfig wlan0 up or whatever it appears as _________________ Damian |

Sounds like there's no driver loaded for the card. try "modprobe prism54". You need the prism54 firmware, too (emerge prism54-firmware).
"dmesg" is a command. It shows the messages from the kernel. |
