I've finished my kernel compile and copying...
copied it to the name kernel-2.6 .. hope that is correct.
My root part is now used at 97% .. and i yet have to install packages... please tell me which files and folders i can remove or move to my other partition.. (i guess i dont need portage files and the stage anymore...)
My hdds / parts..
hdb1 : boot 32Mb
hdb2: swap : 256Mb
Hdb3: root : ~1700mb / 97 % used.
Hdd2 : 2000Mb used for tmp while installation.
Please help me clean up my HDb3. and setup folders/ mountpoints so that new packages installed go there (hdd2) rather than hdb3 (root). |

Having around 2Gb for your entire system isn't much. The Portage tree alone takes around 600Mb and any sources you've downloaded are added to that. Clean /usr/portage/distfiles and /var/tmp/portage. Yet you'll always hit the edge with such a small area.
If your hdd2 can be used, you might want to think about migrating /usr to that partition. _________________ Please add "[solved]" to the initial topic title when it is solved. |

You might want to have a look at app-admin/tmpwatch for cleaning out temporary directories and app-admin/localepurge for cleaning out unneeded locale files and localized man pages.
