i've got P4 3eGHz 800MHz System bus 1Mb L2 Cache.
should i just check P4 option in menuconfig?
why there's 8 processor qty is set by default and why can't i set it to 1(2 is min)?

P4 will be OK.

SMP requires 2 or more processors, its harmless on single CPU systems.
You get a one CPU kernel (uniprocessor) by turning off SMP support.

If your P4 supports hyperthreading, you may need to choose SMP and 2 processors unless hyperthreading is a seperate option now.

Hyperthreading is a seperate option in Kernel's config, & it's different than SMP (SMP>=2CPUs) 8)
