hello,
i've got Xorg running but it is shifted to the right about 20 pixels. I have tried playing with ViewPort but it doesn't make any difference. I'm using the nv driver.
Does anyone know how to shift the screen?
Thanks! |

do you have a real monitor - as opposed to some flat-panel-LCD screen, I mean...
I've never seen a shifted display on an LCD
In case of monitor:
the thing itself can be adjusted...
if this does not help - there is a tool "xvidtune" - try that. |

it's LCD. sorry i forgot to mention that.
I looked at xorg.conf from my suse machine that I used with the same monitor and i've been playing with Modeline values. I can center it now with around a 15 pixel gap on both sides. Until i find out what all those numbers mean i'll leave it.
thanks for your help.
in case anyone is wondering:
Modeline "1280x1024" 117.45 1280 1368 1504 1728 1024 1025 1028 1068
the dot clock seems to shift the screen left and right. i can't change the width. i've looked at what the numbers represent but it's still confusing.
Edit:
i've started up KDE and my monitor's internal settings have adjusted themselves. A HP dialog box says "Adjusting" and the screen jumps around a little 'till it lines up. I'll keep an eye out for smoke coming out the back.
cheers! |
