hej. I have some questians about ther is somone ther have try to install gentoo on a IBM Netfinity 5500 M20 RACK server. Becourse I have one I cane bye, but I only wondt to bye it if it's posebly to install gentoo on it.
And questions 2:
The plan is to make a raid 1 whit the oss "gentoo" and a raid 5 whit all the data. how cane i do that whit fdisk.
the raid 1 is 2 * 9.1 gb and the raid 5 is 4* 18 gb diske.
I have only try to install gentoo on one disk and there i use fdisk as this
Code: | /dev/hda1 Boot
/dev/hda2 Swap partition
/dev/hda3 / |
how can i do it? |

on questions more.
when I will start to install it. must I so use x86 ore some other boot cd? as ther is 4 * p3 cpu in it. |

Yes x86, bur remember to enable SMP support in Kernel config (for multiple CPUs).
And to the questions about the raid config, you'd install the driver for that raid-card in the Kernel (if it's hw-raid ?) and even before that you'd make the arrays with the card's bios or some utility program for it.
For example my compaq SmartArray Controller's Raid devices are /dev/ida/c0d0p1 for first partition of the first drive on first channel (/dev/ida/c0d1p1 for second drive's 1st partition) _________________ 1st use 'Search' & lastly add [Solved] to
the subject of your first post in the thread. |
