Hello gentooers,

I've been trying to install kcheck gmail, and I can't get it to work. It seems to login fine, but whenever it tries to check the mailbox it outputs this message to the console:
Code:

QGArray::find: Index 0 out of range

I tried different configurations but it didn't make a difference. Any idea?

Hi,

Since few weeks I have the following error message on both my desktop and laptop:

Quote:

unknown error retrieving cookies

Both computers are running gentoo with more or less the same desktop configuration and error appeared at the same time.
This error appears both with my girl's gmail account and mine.

Is there any change in Gmail configuration?

Thanks

At least, good that you have the same problem!

I suspect a change in gmail settings, I didn't find anything so far...

I have the same problem (concerning the cookies). There's an open bug for that on the kcheckgmail project page (http://kcheckgmail.sourceforge.net). So maybe help will arrive soon.

I've been having the same problem. It no longer works. It been a while since there's been a new version. I suspect google changed some stuff which has broken kcheckgmail, now all we can do is wait for a new version. Maybe they should use libgmail so they don't have to duplicate coding effort and to make it so they can keep up with gmail changes more easily.

There's an easier and better way to access Gmail when using any Pop3 capable client. Simply enable pop3 access in Gmail itself, set things to download all messages and configure the client according to the alternate client settings in the help page.

Works much better and allows you to send using your preferred email client.

NOTE: Gmail does not delete your messages so that setting is useless when configuring the pop3 client access. Also when you send using the pop3 access, gmail will retain a copy of your sent message, which makes it easy to recover thing when you end up fragging your system

FastTurtle, we don't want to use a mail client for gmail, we want to use the nice gmail web interface. It's just that we want a tray icon to notify us of new mail. Right now I've switched to mail-notification. Unfortunately it's a gtk app but it works.

Fixed for now in latest release. Still don't know why it hasn't been rewritten to use libgmail.

You need 0.5.6

You can search portage online at gentoo-portage.com which is an un-offical site or on the official gentoo site, but gentoo-portage.com is better.

http://kcheckgmail.sourceforge.net/

What are you using?

Sure, I just wanted to emphasize the fact that it's not considered as stable yet, but I think that's not a big deal for such a package...

It's still marked as ~x86, and after I unmask it and emerge it, I realize it doesn't work :( (invalid username/password) Maybe a new API change?

Isn't there any good gmail notifier? (for KDE)

It's been working just fine for me. It's better than the official notifier in the fact that it uses https to login where as google's passes things in plain text o_0
