A professor at the university I work at needs linux installed with kernel version 2.4. The problem is, the machine he requires the installation on uses SATA.
Is there a way to have gentoo see the sata drive while still using the 2.4 kernel?

BlackHatRob,
Maybe - the 2.4 kernel has both the SATA under SCSI and and the IDE SATA drivers, so yo ucan certianly try.
I don't know if the driver supports your ICH7 chipset though.
You can install a 2.4 kernel and see what happens. _________________ Regards,
