|
|
I turned on the Banner option in sshd conf, and in general it works, however i can't get it to work with the character sequences. Instead of converting the character sequences to what they should represent, it just prints out the character sequences, e.g. instead of turning %u into the user attempting to connect, it just displays %u.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

The ssh banner is displayed before a user name is provided. _________________ The true guru is a teacher.

(Actually if you provide ssh with a username, then the username should already be known before the banner is displayed) but more to the point, that was only an example. There are many character sequences that the banner file can contain, which are translated when the banner is displayed e.g. date, architecture, time, hostname, etc.
For example, take a look at the contents of your default /etc/issue . . .
i can't get sshd to work with them though. |
