managing power/cpu speed on turion 64(Compaq nx6125 laptop)

Hey guys, im new to linux and have been trying to get my install working properly. Im attempting to dual boot on a Compaq nx6125 and have followed the hand book. I also followed the power managment guide to clock my cpu freq correctly and power consumption. My turion 2.0ghz is currently stuck at 800mhz and i cant seem to get it to clock correctly with cpufreqd.

Does anyone have a step by step guide i can follow, to correctly clock my cpu and/or set up acpid correctly for power management. Please list the commands and code for scripts that worked for you as i am new to linux. <-- noob.
