aterm & xclock in conky

I had a quick question, how do I get the aterm console to appear in conky? There's a thread in Documentation, Tips & Tricks that shows a nice screenshot and mini-HOWTO on this, but I just can't seem to get it together.

Basically I have my .conkyrc file configured the way I want it, and devilspie all configured so that it runs when I log into GNOME.

1.) the Xclock is not attached to conky, and not transparent (a quick howto on this would be nice.)
2.) running the aterm command in conky doesn't seem to be working, just displays the command line

I can post my .devilspie.xlm and .conkyrc if anyone want to throw down any advice...
