Booting either snd-mpu401 or parport problems

Hi,
I had a fully working gentoo system with the gentoo-sources kernel I also used genkernel. I found my first problem when I did a reboot and it came back with Missing kernel or User mode driver snd-mpu 401 etc... I found it was a kernel module so I added it to /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 in the live cd.
Now when I boot it seems to hang with this message while coldplugging pnp devices:
parport: PnPBIOS parport detected.
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irc 7, dma 3 [PCSPP, TRISTATE, COMPAT, EPP,ECP,DMA]

Now I have no idea what to do but I think its something to do with the kernel although im using genkernel.
