Hey, I'm looking to create a video dvd for a friend of mine. I am looking to use dvdstyler to create it, but I need to decode some xvid/divx files to mpeg to do that. How would I go about doing that? |

something along the lines of Code: | ffmpeg -i /home/user/whatever.avi -target pal-dvd /tmp/dvd.mpeg | should do you
You'll probably need to have at least aac, a52, encode and xvid use flags set for ffmpeg.
if you haven't got it
(*waits for flames suggesting using transcode with a thousand strange options instead of ffmpeg, or some obscure script that takes a tank to work out what it's doing*)
[edit] btw divx/xvid are both mpeg. mpeg 4. avi is just the container, nothing more. DVD's are mpeg 2 (AFAIR), so unfortunately there is a little work to do still [/edit] |

See, I told ya so. But use what I said, as it's infinitely better for no particular reason
Actually sarcasm aside it will probably be quicker with what I suggested. Think tovid is/has a gui involved if that's important to you though. Test stuff out and go with what works for you, it's the whole OSS freedom thing |
