I have switched my system from using UW-IMAP with mbox/mbx style mailboxes to Courier-IMAP and maildir style mailboxes. Everything appears to be working okay, except for one problem in Outlook.
When I do a get/send in Outlook, sometimes I get the following error:
Outlook is unable to download folder (null) from the IMAP server.
I don't know what folder (null) means. I am able to go into each folder I have setup on the IMAP server and read all of the messages. New mail is showing up correctly, but I continue to get this error message. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help you can offer me.

Check out this thread (on some other forum), might help, might not.

I run a Courier-IMAP server and have not had any of my users come back with this problem, I do strongly recommend thunderbird as a mail client so that might be why. (Why not give it a try yourself ) |

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I might have found my problem, but still waiting to see if the error comes back. I upped the allowed connections from the same IP in the courier-imap config file. It was set at 4. I am checking 3 different e-mail accounts on the same server. I bet it was hitting that limit. I have not seen the error again since I changed the setting, but it might be too early to tell.
I have tried Thunderbird, and I just don't really like it. There are a few things I prefer about Outlook. And, no, I don't remember what they are off the top of my head.

Yes the allowed connections is usually the problem.
I think I have it at 10 ... and this works with Thunderbird and Outlook.
Cheers ! |

Ah yes, forgot about that, Outlook does tend to beat the sh1t out out your imap server. |
