Pentium 3 800MHz, 133MHz, 256k, 256MB

dhp@moon_gen:~$ sudo hdparm -tT /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing cached reads: 104 MB in 2.04 seconds = 50.99 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 34 MB in 3.13 seconds = 10.85 MB/sec
dhp@moon_gen:~$ sudo hdparm -tT /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing cached reads: 132 MB in 2.05 seconds = 64.24 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 42 MB in 3.32 seconds = 12.65 MB/sec

HDD is P-IDE 120G likely 4MB cache, with ext3.

Human time was exactly 48h, but consider I used the box 2 or 3h fro browsing and reading emails: E17+FF+TB+Gaim. HDD access time is ages due to bad integrated IDE chipset (the same drive can do 18 to 21MB/s in other computers), and 256MB RAM are way not enough for FF+TB+Gaim.

I was using make -j1, and CGLAGS -pipe.
(dont ask why my make.conf was on -j1 instead of -j2 on that day ...)

Some disks and chipset combinations freak out on dma. I can't enable dma on my Western Digital 80Gb disk, or it gets read errors. So I put it on a seperate channel and use it for music storage (that doesn't require fast access times or a lot of data transfer).
