Hi
I'm part way through setting up my new Gentoo system, however i've run into a problem. On boot, my Promise card seems to be detected fine. Then, all of the connected ide devices are listed. hda.. hdb... hdc... (there's no hdd), then it just hangs. If I unplug the ide cable going to hde/hdf, (they're the only two disks connected to the promise card), then it boots fine.
This seems very odd since I have no trouble with Redhat.
Therefore i presume i'm doing something very stupid. Either i've missed something out of the kernel (using the gentoo-sources kernel), or i'm missing something else somewhere and I just don't know what.
Any ideas/help etc. will be greatly appreciated. |

did you enable
[*] PROMISE PDC202{46|62|65|67|68|69|70} support
in your kernel?
however i think it's strange that it just hangs, if you haven't enabled it, it should just not detect it and go on (i guess!?). |
