|
|
Hi!
I'm experiencing problems with mplayer on my laptop: several video files fail to playback correctly, showing mostly green garbage and garbled sound if any. The same files work without problems on my stationary system which is using essentially the same version of mplayer and win32codecs (just without DVD support - this system doesn't have a DVD drive). My problem is - how do I find out where to start searching? The problem seems to occur only with the wmv9dmo codec. I already ensured that the win32codecs flag is set - in fact, I emerged mplayer using the following flags:
Code: | [ebuild R ] media-libs/win32codecs-20050216 +quicktime -real 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre7-r1 -3dfx -3dnow -3dnowext +X +aac -aalib +alsa (-altivec) +arts -bidi -bindist -bl -cdparanoia -cpudetection -custom-cflags -debug -dga -directfb +doc -dts +dv -dvb +dvd +dvdread -edl +encode +esd -fbcon -ggi +gif +gtk -i8x0 +ipv6 +jack -joystick +jpeg -libcaca -lirc +live -livecd -lzo +mad +matroska -matrox +mmx +mmxext -mythtv +nas +nls +nvidia +opengl +oss +png +real +rtc +samba +sdl +sse +sse2 +svga -tga +theora +truetype -v4l -v4l2 +vorbis +win32codecs +xanim -xinerama -xmms +xv +xvid -xvmc 0 kB |
Has anybody got any idea what's going wrong here?
Thanks in advance

This might perhaps be related to some configuration settings of your graphiccard. I have the same issue on my Gentoo box with a nVidia 4400 MX, while on the Ubuntu box with an old nVidia gforce2 it works fine, but I never found out why exactly this happens. |

The stationary machine is some old TNT2 clone, this laptop is equipped with a GeForce FX Go5600. The strange thing is - as far as I remember, it worked until a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I don't recall all of the changes I made to the system config in the meantime. |
