I was going to try this later this week, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experince with it.

I'd like to have an actual filesystem on my USB fob -- like one with permissions and real filenames and all that.

Since I'm usually in a linux-only environment, ext2 would work, but I was wondering if anyone has had any success putting UDF on a USB storage device. As I understand it, UDF support is as common in MicroSoft land as USB storage support is, so it if works in Windows, that would be slick.

Googling around has turned up nothing useful (other than the Wikipedia page on UDF, of course)...

Anyone tried this?

From man mkudffs (sys-fs/udftools)
Code:

      --media-type= media-type
Specify the media type. Valid media types are:

                   hd              hard drive

So I guess it should work, although I never tried myself...
