i just instaled gentoo linux (1.1a with the old gcc) on a new machine; when i try emerge xfree-4.2 (r9 or r11) the build fails claiming missing files; it seems that when the building it is supposed to be finishing some files are deleted before they should :( ) any hints ?

thanks in advance

Have you done an emerge rsync or changed your server name in make.conf since they changed over. If your compiling kde you might be having a problem with the qt3--I'm having that problem right now but i can't fix it either

I've had the exact same problem two or three times now. It's always something different that it can't find.

Everytime I just
emerge kde
again and the problem goes away for the particular package. I think I had trouble with x11-base, qt, and something else. One was make saying that install was an invalid target, and another was that libtool.so.conf could not be found (or something like that).

Hi, i solved this by emerging first an older XFree version (4.1) and then emerging the later ones (and unmerging the 4.1 in the end)

Hope this helps
