First, decide. Do you REALLY need to configure this modem? Simply put, it is more than likely that your modem is a winmodem, meaning that getting it to work under Linux might require quite a bit of effort.
If you do need it to work, it may be possible.
http://linmodems.org/ is a good reference.
You'll need find out exactly what chipset your modem uses first. Just knowing the brand name isn't enough.
Go to http://132.68.73.235/linmodems/first.html to get the scanmodem utility and run it to find out all the information about your particular modem.
Before you actually run the scanmodem script be sure to do this (as root):

If you're lucky the drivers are in Portage. If they aren't you'll have download and compile them yourself. Use the first link above and Google for more help. |
