|
|
Good morning
When booting on "live cd Gentoo 2005.1, I receive following message:
"Kernel panic -not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown block (1,0)"
But when booting on install cd Gentoo 2005.1, everything is normal...
What can I do because I want to work outside with this live cd ?
Thank you for your answers

alain.hoffmann,
You say
Code: | When booting on "live cd Gentoo 2005.1, I receive following message: ...

Do you actually mean when you boot your installed gentoo from the hard drive you get the
Code: | Kernel panic -not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown block (1,0) | message ?
unknown block (1,0) is actually /dev/ram0 ans is where the kernel looks for your iniitrd file.
The message means its either not there at all or the kernel cannot understand it.
Please post your grub.conf file and the output of _________________ Regards,

alain.hoffmann,
I have not seen this error when booting with the liveCD. Try reading the help on the F2 and F3 key screens and using some of the no options to turn off various features. Things like noscsi noapic ...
The liveCD will not show you Gentoo working. It is only a means to install Gentoo. Its not actually required for a Gentoo install either. You may use a Knoppix liveCD/DVD if you wish. See section 3 _________________ Regards,
