Hello Forum,

I am proud to announce that I just setup my first mail-server: qmail + courier-imap + pop... :-)

So now I am wondering, if qmail is capable of "intelligent" forwarding", if I may call it that. What I want is that each user can define rules, so that qmail forwards messages, which match certain criteria (i.e. words in the content, priority of the mail, sender's domain, words in the subject ... you know what I mean). That would for instance allow a user to have all emails which come from his girlfriend OR have priority: high, to be forwarded directly to the cell-phones email address.

My problem is, that I don't know much about qmail-internals. I am not looking for a complete suite (although I would be happy, if there was one), that solves my problem, but rather for a point and if neccessary a programming /script - language to start from.

Thanks, for your ideas,

Chris

the solution you are looking for is called procmail.
instead of just dropping your mail in your mailbox, qmail hands it to procmail. Procmail then goes over it's rules and forwards/deletes/copies/... whatever you want.
