Digikam v. 0.7.4 hangs at the splash screen, having sent the following to stderr:

Quote:
kio (KSycoca): WARNING: Found version 75, expecting version 79 or higher.
kio (KSycoca): WARNING: Outdated database found

It used to work, until I executed emerge -u two days ago. I use the program a lot and I think I had the immediately preceding version.

Any ideas about getting an acceptable database going for it would be very welcome indeed since I use the program a lot and really can't manage without it.

I am using FVWM and not kde, if that makes any difference.

Maybe you could try a 'deep' update (emerge -u --deep world') and see if that fixes the problem. I know Digikam 0.7.4 used to work fine here.

Nowadays, I use 0.8.0 and it works great. So you could also try to upgrade to this version, which uses sqlite3 as its databse backend.

Thanks, I may very well try that when these sorts of problems arise in the future.

For the time being, kbuildsycoca as user did the trick.
