I'm trying to bring up a new server with qmail, courier imap and vpopmail. I have configured everything according to the wiki guide here:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-382072-highlight-courier.html

I have been having problems authenticating so I turned on debug level logging.

In my log I saw this:
> Jan 22 17:44:03 [imapd] Connection, ip=[::ffff:192.168.0.14]
> Jan 22 17:44:03 [authdaemond] received auth request, service=imap,
> authtype=login
> Jan 22 17:44:03 [authdaemond] authvchkpw: trying this module
> Jan 22 17:44:03 [authdaemond] vchkpw: domain does not exist
> Jan 22 17:44:03 [authdaemond] authvchkpw: REJECT - try next module
> Jan 22 17:44:03 [authdaemond] FAIL, all modules rejected
> Jan 22 17:44:03 [imapd] LOGIN FAILED, user=bob, ip=[::ffff:192.168.0.14]
> Jan 22 17:44:08 [imapd] LOGOUT, ip=[::ffff:192.168.0.14]

The line theat reads vchkpw: domain does not exist, looks like the culprit, but as far as I can tell the domains look OK. Any ideas?

This is probably not much help, but I found your thread and this thread while searching for my problem. It talks a bit about vchkpw, but I've not been able to figure out what it is.

Updated my stystem recently and courier-authlib seems to have been updated. Seems like every other time it get's updated, my imapd breaks. Hope this helps you some.
