my quickcam communicate (/dev/video0) has a integrated microphone. I'd like to be able to use it with skype. but I can't getting it to work. before going further, I'd like to test it as a microphone device.

you guys know any software that could read sound from this specific device or any custom device ? once I know I can get sound input from it, I know my only problem is skype. right now, I think maybe its the quickcam driver that does not find the microphone or something.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Well, the kernel module has to support it for this to work. Enable usb audio support in the alsa section of your kernel config. It should thrn apear as another alsa device.
