I want to install Gentoo and have downloaded the "Gentoo 2005.1 Universal install CD" but when im trying to write the image to a DVD i get an error. Click the link for screenshot:

What am I doing wrong? I Dont have any empty CD's so thats why i need to write it to this DVD..

Im in Ubuntu now btw..

Why not just mount the image and burn it as a data disk I don't think its possible to write a cd image to a dvd.

TwoMan, that won't work. In order to install Gentoo, you gotta have the cd bootable, unless you already have a linux os on the machine.

Burning a CD image to a DVD works just fine (I have done it plenty of times).

It just seems that K3B is giving you trouble, or the DVD you are trying to burn is not really blank.

Try running the burning software (cdrecord-prodvd or growisofs) directly without the GUI. That way you can see the actual error messages if something doesn't work.

Yea that was the problem. It wasnt really blank. Dont know why it said it was but it doesnt matter now. I found a CD-R :)
