Posted: Fri Jan 27, 2006 12:50 pm Post subject: [solved] PCMCIA with Medion 41700 |
|
|
WORKS
The rt2500 drivers in portage were the problem, using the drivers from cvs everything works
I've got a Medion MD 41700 notebook, with a Texas Instruments PCI7420 CardBus Controller. I bought myself a Edimax 7108PCg wifi card, the datasheet is available here. The card has a Ralink rt2500 chip. I built all pcmcia modules availible in the vanilla-sources and emerged coldplug. Coldplug loads the yenta_socket and the rsrc_nonstatic modules. When the yenta_socket module is loaded the link LED of my card flashes. I emerged pcmciautils, the pccardctl utility reports:
Code: |
mobile jens # pccardctl status
Socket 0:
no card
Socket 1:
3.3V 32-bit PC Card
|
pccardctl ident 1 reports that no product information is available. When I load the rt2500 module nothing happens.

I think I had a similar problem. I tried many things and I think the problem was with the kernel PCMCIA support. My wild guess is that the kernel does not inform the driver that the card is inserted.
Try emerging pcmcia-cs and then run cardmgr. I think that's what solved my problem. |
