Hi,

Sorry if i'm in the wrong place but i didnt knew were to put this question.

I'm having problems emerging amule and xmule:

xmule give-me this:

>>> Unpacking xmule-1.10.0.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/xmule-1.10.0/work
* Applying xmule-1.10.0-crypto-gentoo.patch ... [ ok ]
>>> Source unpacked.
/usr/portage/net-p2p/xmule/xmule-1.10.0.ebuild: line 36: replace-flags: command not found
!!! set-wxconfig: Error: Can't find normal or debug version:
!!! set-wxconfig: /usr/bin/wxgtk2-2.4-config not found
!!! set-wxconfig: /usr/bin/wxgtk2d-2.4-config not found
!!! You need to emerge wxGTK with gtk2 in your USE

I've already emerged wxGTK with gtk2 and it continues like thius.

The only thing i've realized its that wxgtk2d-2.4-config doesnt exist in my system, there is only a newer version, the wxgtk2d-2.6-config

About amule:

6 -lwx_gtk2_adv-2.6 -lwx_gtk2_core-2.6 -lwx_base_odbc-2.6 -lwx_base_xml-2.6 -lwx_base_net-2.6 -lwx_base-2.6 -lz -lbfd -liberty
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/../../../libwx_gtk2_core-2.6.so: undefined reference to `pango_x_get_context'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [amulewebDLG] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/amule-2.0.3-r4/work/aMule-2.0.3/src'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/amule-2.0.3-r4/work/aMule-2.0.3/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/amule-2.0.3-r4/work/aMule-2.0.3'
make: *** [all] Error 2

!!! ERROR: net-p2p/amule-2.0.3-r4 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 90, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

I get this...

Does anyone has any tips?

Many thx,

These two packages are no longer being supported if I'm not wrong. The newer option for them ed2k-gtk-gui (the GUI) and edonkey (the core).

It looks to me like amule is failing during some web code. As a guess, are you emerging it with the remote use flag enabled? It's been working fine for me without remote enabled, but I never tried it with. --as-needed in your ldflags could also cause an error message like that.

Actually, you've got it backwards. Amule is a fork of xmule, which was a cross-platform version of emule. Amule at least is well supported in Gentoo, in active development, and is the best edonkey client I've found for Linux. The official edonkey client hasn't been used nearly as much as Emule, since the latter is superior in many ways. Metamachine, the company that developed Edonkey as well as Overnet, shut down its efforts related to the network a few months ago from legal threats from the RIAA, so edonkey is no longer supported.
