you will need the last ebuild media-libs/mac/mac-3.99.4.4.ebuild, and the two patches
although i would put it in media-sound, as lame, musepack-tools etc etc are in media-sound too _________________ http://proaudio.tuxfamily.org/wiki - pro-audio software overlay

could you please read the README which gets installed with that package and maybe take a look at the homepage of mac-port?!
you'll also find a bmp-mac and xmms-mac plugin there. amarok can play ape's using gst-monkeysaudio for which you'll also find some ebuilds on bugs.gentoo.org
but i would use the mac decoder to convert them to flac or something else which is easier to play
that's why i pointed you there.
google for "convert ape linux" ---> 2nd hit _________________ http://proaudio.tuxfamily.org/wiki - pro-audio software overlay
