Hello,
I have a weird one... I upgraded kernel on my server from 2.6.8 to 2.6.15 and installed udev as requested but tsince this, mysql won't start anymore at runlevel.
Basically, I tried removing it and re-adding it but doesn't help.
Quote: | rc-update add mysql default |
Mysql won't start during the boot and there is no error log generated in /var/log/mysql/
Below is the only error available, the one I can read during the boot.
Quote: | ERROR: Problem starting needed services
"mysql" was not started |
but then once the boot is completed, I can without a simple problem type
Quote: | /etc/init.d/mysql start |
and then the mysqld starts without problem!
I'm really puzzled about this one... so if anyone has an idea you are more than welcome
Thanks in advance
Cheers,

ok solved...
it seems something must have changed inside the net.eth0 way of working... because playing with it solved my problem.
Basically, I added net.eth0 to boot runlevel and removed it from default.
And now all my problems of services not starting are solved.
HTH,
