(didn't know where to put this, but it seems it's hardware related)
So, i have a gentoo/win xp-system.
in windows, i can play, do some cpu/gpu-taking things in general, NEVER encounters any problems.
in gentoo, sometimes the system freezes, couple examples : when emerging things, when starting quake4(especially second time started, without rebooting) when i shut gnome down, i hear the sound, it abruptly turns off(too soon) and it freezes. when i halt/reboot from a shell, it can get stuck there, or when trying to unload alsa mixer.
im running latest kernel, latest gentoo, and latest everything, really.
if it would matter, im compiling everything using mcpu=i686 as march=k8 won´t work, despite i have a amd64, maybe because i use 32bits, instead of 64?
Could this be some sort of overheating, or is it hardware-conflicts or maybe something? don't know if more info is needed, if so post what you want to know!
thanks in forehand! |
