|
|
Dear users,
I'm struggling to get squid running for singlehost, machine for home use. Reasons are obvious, first benefit of caching web traffic and second controlling access to some web pages.
Scenario would be as follows:
squid is running on localhost ( 127.0.0.1 ) and all web traffic would be redirected ( with iptables ) to it. Machine is used as desktop for home use, so there is no extra machine/ router with firewall. Connection to internet will be done via ADSL. Machine has optionally one NIC.
To get squid running on locahost works fine, but the only proble I have is to redirect all trafic to it. Including traffic from that machine squid runs on.
Did someone get involved in this? Or is there any better solutuion?
Thanks in advance

A very quick Google for "transparent web proxy squid" turns up this:
http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-17.html (it may be an old doc but it seems to cover everything you'll need)
... and a lot of other links. Have a read and then post back with something a bit more specific please.
Cheers
Jon

Yes, I did it sever time, over and over. But apparently I'm lacking ability of PF from *BSD to redirect traffic for single host as well. This question is not about setting up squid, but configuring iptables to fit my needs.
I hope my question is clear.
