|
|
When running KDE the rxvt terminal is crashing with the following error whenever I highlight text:
Code: | # rxvt
rxvt: XError: Request: 18 . 0, Error: 2 |
I have tested various terminals (urxvt, xterm, konsole) in KDE and various WMs (gnome, fluxbox) with rxvt but cannot duplicate the error. There is nothing listed in dmesg or any of the log files. The same problem is posted here but did not receive a response.
Here is some (possibly) useful information:

Is there any other information that would be useful in figuring this out? _________________ A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. - Proverbs 14:29 |

I just checked the link above and it took forever to open, so for those who don't want to wait, here are the contents:
[suse-amd64] rxvt terminal crashes in SuSE 9.1 wrote: | Message-ID: <40F7239F.8010602@asu.edu>

I much prefer rxvt over xterm. But there is a glitch with SuSE 9.1, and
AMD Opteron chips. If I right-click, once or twice, on the window, rxvt
closes with the error
rxvt: XError: Request: 18 . 0, Error: 2
Such right clicks are often finger errors. Also, I cannot highlight
text for cut and paste without a crash. This is extremely frustrating.
This problem does not occur on standard 32-bit chips. I also don't
remember it happening on SuSE 9.0 (with the 2.4.21 kernel). Please
help. Thanks. |
There are some differences between the problem in this post and mine. Notably, I am running Gentoo on an AMD Athlon 64 (rather than SuSE 9.1 on AMD Opteron). However, the error message and causes are the same. _________________ A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. - Proverbs 14:29 |

I can confirm that -- it's a 64-bit problem in the old rxvt. |
