|
|
Emacs is taking a long time (about 10 seconds) to start on Gnome (latest version), even though it starts fairly quick on KDE. However, as soon as i remove font configurations, it goes back to loading fast again. Below follow the lines on my .emacs that i have to remove to make it start fast:
Code: |
(custom-set-faces
;; custom-set-faces was added by Custom -- don't edit or cut/paste it!
;; Your init file should contain only one such instance.
'(default ((t (:stipple nil :background "#ffffff" :foreground "#000000" :inverse-video nil :box nil :strike-through nil :overline nil :underline nil :slant normal :weight normal :height 157 :width normal :family "Serif")))))

Could it be a font issue? Nevertheless, this is not the first gentoo instalation i've seen that suffers from this problem (has started about 6 months ago, when these systems upgraded, but only recently affected me cause only recently i upgraded my gnome). _________________ Do not try and bend the spoon. I think I had some sort of the same issue once. You could put the font line back in and remove only one option once and test it once by once.
Start with omitting the
And what version of emacs are you using anyway? |

That is most definately the issue (the height option). One of the machines that suffers from this issue uses GNU Emacs 21.4.1. I'll check the other machines' emacs version when i get to them later, and post it here. _________________ Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth. Kinda weird that nobody else has suffered this bug. Well, then again, not many users of "Desktop Environments" use the "One editor". Maybe i should've posted on Portage & Programming? _________________ Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth. Solved issue. Just reemerged emacs with gnome flag set. _________________ Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth. Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. |
