Ok, when I did my original install I used the Stage3 tarball, and never changed any of the defaults so everything was compiled with arch=i686 -O2 My system is a t-bird 800 on a kt3 ultra board, w/ 256 MB PC2100 DDR Ram. my question is this: Which Packages should I rebuild and what arch and -O settings should I use to achieve the best performance? (and still be stable)
will i have to recompile kde3? or should I? do I need to uninstall one package before emerging another? or can I just emerge it and it will overwrite the previous version?
How noticable of a speed increase can I expect from rebuilding with more intense optimizations?
TIA Folks!
