Hi
Topic start tells a lot.
Just had a fresh install on my hard-disk.
Emered mysql-4 , mod_php (yeah it's old, but it should work), and apache-2.0.55-r1 .
This is what I did:
Code: |
dionysos phpmyadmin # /etc/init.d/apache2 start
* Starting apache2 ... [ !! ]
dionysos phpmyadmin #
|
My emerge info:
Code: |
dionysos phpmyadmin # emerge info
Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/amd64/2005.1, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.15.2 x86_64)

My /etc/conf.d/apache2:
Code: |
dionysos phpmyadmin # cat /etc/conf.d/apache2 | grep -v '#'
APACHE2_OPTS="-D DEFAULT_VHOST -D PHP4"
STARTUPERRORLOG="/var/log/apache2/startuperror.log"
KEEPENV="PATH"
|
I haven't touched httpd.conf. /var/log/apache2/startuperror.log says only:"Syntax OK". So this is not an error, I guess.
How to get more info.
Apache is _not_ started. Just like the init-script indicates....
Also the box isn't able to server webpages , and doesn't answer on :80. _________________ Mijn Nederlandstalige Gentoo forum:

just installed dev-lang/php . Same problem
the configtest from the apache initscript also told me the config's are fine.
/var/log/messages is empty about apache. _________________ Mijn Nederlandstalige Gentoo forum:

ok just found the problem.
There was a vhost which had a line for logging in it.
It tried to log to a non-existent location
So it's fixed now (even found out myself). _________________ Mijn Nederlandstalige Gentoo forum:
