I have a DVD drive which worked fine under Ubuntu, but now in Gentoo I can only read cd/dvds, not write them, and I can't rip cds either with K3b or other. (I'm running both as a user) What should I do to cure the problem? |

If you can run k3b (say) as root, but not as a user, it's probably a permissions thing. Try adding yourself to the group that has access to your cd device (on my machine, the group is cdrom). You can do this like so:
Code: | gpasswd -a <username> cdrom |
Where <username> is your login id. You'll then have to log out & back in to get this to work. _________________ Well, the Sister was right. You boys could use a little churching up. Slide on down to the Triple Rock, and catch Rev. Cleophus. You boys listen to what he's got to say.
