Help with gdesklets.

I am trying to get gdesklets to work within gnome 2.6.12
after the first time in installed it launched ok. however after installing other gtk based software i could not launch it again.
here is what the log file said

Have you try to emerge cairo and then reemerge gdesklets?

I'll try that. but i think my problems lie where i broke a lot of .conf files with etc-update...
