Hello,
I have a strage problem here: i have fbsplash installed, the splash image shows up correctly at boot, everything works fine. But when i reboot or shutdown the system, it also shows the splash image, but then hangs at "stopping xdm...". When i press F2 it reboots / shut down.
kernel parameters in grub.conf:
video=vesafb:mtrr,ywrap,1024-768@32 splash=silent, fadein, theme:Pyro CONSOLE=/dev/tty1
I have an IBM Thinkpad R50e with Intel 855GM Video card. |

same here. but when i do a reboot/shutdown from a terminal in X the system shutsdown correctly. only when i leave the windowmanager and get to the session manager (i tried gdm, kdm). i shut down the machine with gdm or kdm it hangs immediatly.

now this also does not work anymore. this is getting really serious. since i emerged qingy, there is absolute no response either after i do a reboot/shutdown from a console in within X or after i exit my windowmanager to get to a console. nothing. no shutdown, no console. only thing that is left is to pull the plug. maybe someone can help. please
