I have a Toshiba 490xcdt laptop wilth 64MB ram amd a 266 PII mmx processor. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to optimize such an ancient machine? I assigned it 256MB swap space but it does no seem to use it much. How do I make it use the page file more? I once used xfce4 for a windows manager but it kept on crashing during heavy compiles. What windows manager is lighter? _________________ I live a life of needles and wax.

Any *box (blackbox, openbox,...) should suit your needs.
And to learn how to regulate your swap usage, try to search the forums for swapiness. |
