This is possibly the sweetest sounding "onboard" sound I have yet come accross. To set it up I pretty much installed alsa - can't remember doing anything specific.
The problem is from time to time the sound device is unaccessible. My playlist in xmms would stop every couple of songs saying something to the effect of it having trouble accessing the sound device. Sound quality however is superb, really. Hardly any noise, and a very sweet (almost soundblaster live! like sound).
Skype is an absolute pain in the butt - I can only make one call, there after I have a "Problem with sound device" and I have to restart skype. Once I've established a call, after a couple of minutes, the other person's voice would start sounding like a chopper, but to them my voice remains crystal clear. Then I have to close skype and open again.
So far I have only the sound device to go on. I'm hoping to get my hands on a USB SoundBlaster Audigy soon, but that might be a while. In the meantime it would be real nice to be able to skype from my notebook.
Anyone have any experience with this sound chip? Any secrets you want to share?
Thanks

No I haven't, but did get a few hints from a SUSE user which I haven't tried yet. I'm just too tied up at the moment but I'm going on leave in two weeks' time and will mess around with it then. _________________ --

It maybe happening cuase a system sound is trying to play and by default alsa can only play one sound at a time. Try setting up threaded sound, there are a few guides floating around the forums. |

For the most part mixing works fine (I think it's on by default now in ALSA), but it might be that something gets screwed while skype is running. Thanks! _________________ --
