First off, I have a r128 card (Xpert 2000 (32 RAM)). I've just got rehooked on Quake3. However, unlike under Windows (same hardware) I'm having an awful time getting smooth gameplay. So I'm looking for tips on how to get more out of my video card.
I'm running XFree86 4.3.0, r128 compiled as a module. DRI is enabled (glxinfo says so).
'grep Load /etc/X11/XF86Config' looks like:
Load "dbe" # Double buffer extension
Load "type1"
Load "speedo"
Load "freetype"
# Load "xtt"
Load "glx"
Load "dri"
(Section "DRI" is also there uncommented)
glxgears averages around 345fps (which seems way to slow)
It's a little bothersome that I barely get smooth gameplay at 512x360 under Quake, while under windows I get 65fps(ish) at 800x600.
So, any other things I should look at/read?
Thanks.
Edit: Err, make that 245fps with glxgears (unfortunately) |
