Hi
I've been having problems trying to compile my nvidia drivers. Basically, whenever I try to emerge nvidia-kernel, I get this compile error:
scripts/mod/modpost: No such file or directory
My kernel version is 2.4.16-gentoo-r5, and i'm a little stumped as to what to do next. In other forums from another distribution i've found that someone suggested that this message is caused by kernel sources being incomplete.
I've only just installed gentoo, and since finishing the base installation as described by handbook, I have only installed fbset, and xorg-x11 packages. Thats it all.
If anyone can offer any suggestions as to what I could try, I would be grateful.
Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem. Fresh amd64 install on a dual XEON machine.
Here's my make.conf:
CFLAGS="-march=nocona -pipe -fPIC -02"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j3" |

I recompiled the kernel with all options checked under "Loadable module support." Not sure if it was just a matter of recompiling or the new options enabled. Either way, I'm working now. |
