This is just a note, to let other people know what ebuild is more likely a waste of time to emerge directly
from portage, and where they can find a better ebuild if there is. After wasting 3 days trying to make some blender
python scripts work, and discovering an ebuild in bugzilla that may have saved me 3 days, I decided to post in the forum:
xmltv -0.5.39 : mostly obsolete (surely for german and italian), 0.5.42 ebuild in bugzilla (gentoo bugzilla).
blender-2.41 : bad installation folder, skipping the one in portage and goin directly in bugzilla can save days of work.
avidemux-2.0.42-r1 : working but obsolete version, 2.1.1 in bugzilla.
freevo-1.5.3: working (well, maybe..) but obsolete, 1.5.4 is bugfixed for python 2.4, bugzilla this too.
Please reply here with the other ebuilds that work bad, are obsolete or just a waste of time,
join the campaign "save Matteo's time". _________________ Every day a new distro comes to birth. Every day a distro "eats" another.

Well, post a message on bugzilla telling people that you used those ebuilds and they worked ok for you (that is, if they did) so
that the developers can actually know that they are working ok and put them on portage. |

No, there are more issue involving that.
XMLTV ebuild is ready from quite some months
(v 0.5.40 provided by kurt V. Hindenburg, then I refined and updated till 0.5.41, that's working fine for italian, german and other,
but since na user can use 0.5.39, france and portugal users have no working version -portugal grabbers needs a package not in portage-
so ebuild is stuck there indefinitely, I'm givin up).
Freevo ebuild is unmantained, as it seems to be Avidemux (lacks of developers, no-one reporting it working in bugzilla)
Blender is mantained, but since they are "waiting for better releases upstream" we get an ebuild that would need
some heavy manual configure and symlinking to really work.
So I'm asking other user to post here if there are other packages user may find "useful" to skip the portage version and directly
download overlayed ebuilds. An user could just check here before emerging or could check here after finding blocking bugs. _________________ Every day a new distro comes to birth. Every day a distro "eats" another.
