yep its installed.. i got the error when i did a emerge --update world... it was fine before

See if you have libpam on your system (should be on /usr/lib) . The configure script seems to be having problems
finding it, and it should have been installed together with sys-libs/pam.

yep everything is there.. I also re-emerged pam just to be sure.

ok it has something to do with libpam or my paths or something. I cant emerge any version of openssh ...each generates the same problem. Even when I set my LD_LIBRARY_PATH it gives me the error. Anyone have any suggestions? I've already env-udpated and re-emerged sys-libs/pam

If you run the configure script by hand does it find libpam ???

ok i think i found my problem...

i need to run revdep-rebuild on some stuff.. BUT! its not installed on my system ..

mothership portage # find / -name revdep-rebuild

is it part of a package or something?
